Why foam beats spray for cleaning and sanitising

A sprayed chemical starts running off a vertical surface immediately. A foamed chemical clings for minutes. That extra contact time, called dwell time, is why commercial kitchens, food plants, truck washes and pest controllers foam their chemicals instead of spraying them. The chemical does the work, not the scrubbing.
What dwell time actually does
Every degreaser, sanitiser and truck wash chemical has a contact time it needs to break down soil or kill bacteria. Sprayed on a wall, most of the product is on the floor within seconds, so you either re-spray repeatedly or scrub. Foamed on, the product sits on the surface long enough to finish the job, then rinses off. You use less chemical and less labour for a better result.

Foam is visible. On a big wall, a rack of equipment or a truck, the white blanket shows exactly what is covered and what is missed. That matters for sanitising audits in food facilities, where a missed patch is a failed swab.
Air-driven or airless foam?
- Air-driven foamers use compressed air to make a rich, dry, long-clinging foam. Best where you have an air line: wash bays, plants, workshops. Wall, drum and IBC-mounted air-driven systems run continuously for whole-site cleandowns.
- Airless foamers use mains water pressure and a venturi to draw and blend the chemical. No air line needed, wetter foam. Good for mobile work and smaller sites.
- Pump-up foamers like the Gloria and Klager WASHFOAM range give you clinging foam from a handheld unit, from 1.2 to 5.0 litres. The simplest way to start foaming.
Match the seal to the chemical, as always

- Commercial kitchens: foaming degreaser on canopies, splashbacks and floors, left to dwell, then rinsed.

Frequently asked questions
Does foaming use more chemical than spraying?
Usually less. Because the product stays on the surface and works, you stop re-applying to compensate for run-off.
Can I foam any chemical?
Most cleaning chemicals foam if they contain surfactants, and many are sold in foaming versions. Tell us the product and we will confirm, including the right seal.
What is the difference between a foamer and a foam injector?
A foamer blankets surfaces for cleaning and sanitising. A foam injector pushes foam into cavities and voids, which is the tool for termite work.
