Collection: Solvent-Resistant Sprayers
A solvent-resistant sprayer uses VITON (FKM) seals that stand up to hydrocarbon and chlorinated solvents, solvent-based sealers, thinners and cleaners, where a standard seal swells and fails within a job or two. There is one important exception, and it catches people out: ketones.

The ketone exception
Most solvents want VITON, but acetone and MEK (ketones) are the opposite and need EPDM. This is the single most common seal mistake in solvent work. When in doubt, send us the SDS, or check the Chemical Compatibility Guide. Because VITON also covers most acids, a solvent unit often doubles for acid work.

Common questions
Which seals resist solvents?
VITON (FKM) for most solvents. Note that ketones like acetone and MEK need EPDM instead, the opposite of most solvents.
Can I spray acetone or MEK?
Those are ketones and need EPDM, not VITON. Tell us the exact solvent and we will confirm the seal.
What is the difference between solvent and acid resistance?
Both usually use VITON, so many solvent-resistant sprayers also handle acids. Always confirm the specific chemical.
