Acid-Resistant Sprayers

An acid resistant sprayer is one fitted with VITON (FKM) seals and acid rated wetted parts, so it holds pressure against descalers, rust removers, brick and concrete cleaners and acid sanitisers instead of perishing. Put a strong acid through a standard nitrile or EPDM seal and it swells and leaks fast. VITON is what makes the difference.

Which acids, which build

VITON handles the common trade acids: hydrochloric (brick and concrete cleaners), phosphoric (rust and scale removers), sulphuric and most acid sanitisers. Klager rates its acid sprayer for hydrochloric and sulphuric acid up to 10%, and for phosphoric and citric acid up to 30%. Our stainless steel sprayers are not for acids: the Gloria 505TK and 510TK have brass parts that acids attack, so use a poly acid sprayer such as the Gloria PRO 500 JET Acid Resistant, or an air driven unit for high volume. What makes a sprayer acid resistant?

VITON (FKM) seals and acid rated wetted parts. A standard nitrile or EPDM sprayer fails quickly against strong acids.

VITON or EPDM for acids?

VITON in an acid build for hydrochloric and sulphuric acid. EPDM suits bleach and alkalis, and Klager also rates it for phosphoric and citric acid, but our sources do not rate it for hydrochloric or sulphuric. Confirm concentration and temperature against the SDS.

How strong an acid can I spray?
